Things We Can’t Write About

Truth Poetry by Chris Bunton

There are things.
Things that we can’t write about.

Things we can’t speak of,
Lest we open doors of destruction.

What sort of things?
You might ask, prying.

Do you not know?
Are you perfect in every way?

I’m speaking of those sins,
we commit, which never see the light of day.

Those lusty affairs,
That would destroy a family.

Those terrible things we say that,
We would get canceled for.

Those demonic thoughts,
That creep into the mind.

And what about those things
we did when no one was around.

Those crimes we might have to pay for.

Those things we should not be forgiven for.

The sneaky acts, that would break a heart.

Or maybe, the filthy lies,
that ruined a life, or took one.

There are things we can never write about.

Or maybe that’s what fiction is for.
