Where’s the Blue Jay?

Where did he go?

Where’s the Blue Jay?
I don’t see him much any more.

That pretty bird of blue
was a common sight
in my youth.

But where is the Blue Jay?
He stays in the deep deep woods
Away from trouble it seems

I saw him the other day
Fighting with a friend
But he flew away.

I wonder where he goes
That crazy bird of old.
What’s happened to him?

It’s not a silent spring I see,
But it definitely has less Blue.
Something is wrong.

Is it the factory farm,
poisoning the fields,
killing him?

Is it the poisoned soil and air,
where he flies to live
and see the world below.

Where does he go?
To escape the eyes of man.
To be free if he can.

I would like to go.
To a place of my youth,
where the poison is no more.

A place of life,
without greed
for profit and pay.

A place where,
beauty lives,
and we find the Blue Jay.
