Innocent Till Proven Guilty

Are We Really?

In my life experiences I have discovered that the concept of “Innocent till proven guilty in a court of law.” Only applies to “A Court of Law”.

Everywhere else you are considered guilty till you prove you are not.

Courts have rules and protections that are supposed to maintain the innocence of the alleged criminal till proven guilty. Granted, those protections do not always work the way they should.

The court of public opinion does not have any protections. This is why things are often tried in the media and social circles. It’s easier to destroy someone when you don’t really have to prove anything.

Innocent till proven guilty used to be a foundation of liberty and a common belief in America. But, it has fallen by the wayside. We seem to have become jaded.

As soon as a person is accused and posted online or on social media, we have them found guilty and hanged outside the Facebook courthouse.

This is a terrible thing in our culture, where a person can be canceled with no real proof, or consideration. This is similar to what allegedly happens in China, where they have worked to implement a “Social Credit System” whereby people are supposedly punished for not following political correctness, such as saying the wrong things or sending an email criticizing government. There’s some debate on whether it exists in China or not. But, the fact is that they are definitely building it in America, it seems.

The part that insults me personally, is the fact that we allow our leaders to create mountains of laws, regulations, licenses, registrations and fees, to correct the crimes that others commit, or to “Keep us Safe”

I am sick of being treated like a criminal or a moron because someone else doesn’t have common sense or any ability to control themselves.

And you can’t really argue against it because it’s often about “Safety”. You can get anything passed if it is for safety.

There’s an interesting Bible Prophecy that I think speaks of this.

“And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.”—Rev. 9:6

Imagine a world made so safe by every means possible that even when terrible things happen and people wish they could die, they are not able to. I’m not saying this is a fulfillment of the prophecy. But, consider it.

Does our man-made efforts to defeat death and evil, make life more worth living?

At what point does safety become a prison? A prison where we live to consume and make money for those in power. Never able to escape.

Another Bible Prophecy comes to mind.

“Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”—Matt. 24:12

Because there are so many people doing evil, any love we might have for others becomes less and less till it is just cold. If you can’t love people, then you definitely can’t consider them innocent till proven guilty.

Are you ready for where we are headed?
