Why Do Conspiracy Theories Exist?

Common Sense by Chris Bunton

Because people are not stupid.

And that is the exact accusation people will use against you if you have conspiracy theories.

They will call you stupid.

But, the fact is that conspiracy theories come into being because people see something that doesn’t add up.

They might not even understand all the parts, but something doesn’t jive.

When you live in this world long enough you start to understand the natural flow of things.

4×4=16.

If you roll the dice enough, you will eventually get a winner.

Cause and effect.

What goes up must come down.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire.

We understand the way things work. So there are things that make you go hmmmmm…

That’s the beginning.

Then, you notice that someone else saw the smoke. Someone else saw something that made them go hmmmmm…..

You are not crazy. You are not stupid. You are not alone.

Then, when you throw a bunch of liars into the mix. You know the liars…the politicians, media, bosses, and “leaders” who tell you something, but you can plainly see it’s not true.

That’s when conspiracy theories are born and grows.

You notice that they always seem to lie and spin the truth. You see politicians making promises and lying over and over.

You notice that the flow of power, money, success, and laws, always seem to flow the same way. The same people always seem to benefit or get away with things.

You notice that your observations and the problems you see are never confirmed by the media or anyone in power. But, yet everyone sees it.

As a matter of fact, when you comment on what you see, you get attacked or hear the same talking points over and over.

Things don’t add up.

Take the JFK Assassination. The moment it happened, people saw things that were odd. They might not have been able to figure it out. But, it was strange.

Then, as time goes on we see more and more odd things. Reports of the grassy knoll. The alleged killer Lee Harvey Oswald was found and then killed by someone who does from a disease not long after. The reports that came out which seemed a little off, and over the years, more and more evidence seems to speak of a conspiracy. No one has been able to recreate the shots that killed the President. Video footage raises even more questions. (I’m not trying to debate the JFK assassination, only show that questions lead to conspiracy theories.)

Conspiracy theories exist because people are not stupid. They see things that don’t add up, then they see more and more attempts to cover it up. They see that they get attacked simply for asking a question. They get accused of working for Russia because they question election results. They get called names and their character is called into question because they wonder about the direction our country and world is headed.

Take Jeffery Epstein. A man who rubbed shoulders with the wealthy and powerful. He was arrested on a sex case. Then, questions started arising about his island and connections to the powerful and alleged sex allegations involving powerful people. Then, all of a sudden he ends up dead in his cell and the camera watching him wasn’t working and no one saw anything.

And you wonder why conspiracies exist?

His girlfriend was arrested and…crickets. Nothing.

I could give you conspiracy after conspiracy theory. But, that’s not the point.

The point is that we need to answer the questions and stop treating citizens like they are stupid.

Honestly, if the government wanted to stop conspiracy theories, they would be open and honest. They would do real investigations into every question. And not some pat answer but real proof. They owe it the citizens. Our government spends millions to prove crimes; alleged and real, but can’t provide real proof on the conspiracy theories?

Where’s the media? Why don’t they do real investigations and reports unless it goes a certain way?

I can give you a conspiracy on that too.

So…it has to make you wonder if they really want to prove anything in regards to conspiracy theories.

And that’s where the conspiracies begin again.

Trusting God

He is faithful God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.—1 Cor. 1:9 How is trust built? With anyone, whether it’s parents or friends or enemies or government or neighbors, trust is built or destroyed by relationship, and experience. It is the same with God.…

The Great Falling Away

It will happen in these last days “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (The Day of The Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”— 2 Thess. 2:3   (2 Thess 2:1-15) It seems that this event…

Give And It Shall Be Given Unto You

Have You Tested God? “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”—Luke 6: 38 First, I wanna say that this verse and all…

A God of Second Chances

Spiritual Truth By Chris Bunton

I hear some Christians say this a lot. “God is a God of second chances.”  Every time I hear it, it is like a punch in the face; because I need a God of infinite chances. And so do they, despite what they might believe.

They seem to often believe that if you don’t drink, smoke or chew, or run with girls that do, that you’re ok. If you haven’t been arrested for DUI or drug possession you’re ok. If your marriage is still intact, or you haven’t been fired, you’re ok. They often ignore the sins of pride, gluttony, idolatry, lust, covetousness, and un-forgiveness. They think that since they only sin a little that they are not one of those people who need a second chance. They are in God’s good graces, and no harm shall come to them. But, they are wretched and poor and do not even see it. They don’t realize that they need third, fourth, fifth, and thousands of chances, just like me, and you. They are blind to the fact that every day, they need infinite chances, yet they only want to give others one more chance.

Jesus said “I say not unto thee, until seven times: but, until seventy times seven”—Matt. 18:21-35.  He said this after Peter asked Him how many times he should forgive his brother. “Up to seven times?” Peter had asked. Then, Jesus gives a parable showing how we are to forgive others, and how God is angry that we do not.

But, there is an under lying lesson; it shows us how often God forgives us. We read the parable and we think it’s one time. And it is. But, it is a forgiveness we experience and work through every day, even though He forgave it all already. We have no right to hold things against others because of what God forgives us of everyday.

It’s not easy to forgive. It’s certainly not easy to forgive the way God forgives. Ask, yourself, “What if God forgives me the way I forgive others?” Maybe He doesn’t answer your prayers because you ignore others who have wronged you. Sure you forgive, but you never forget, right? Fool me once, right?   I fall into the same trap.

But God is not like that. He forgives. He lets us off the hook. He throws our sin into the deepest sea and remembers it no more. He removes our sin from us as far as the east is from the west. It’s gone. Never to be brought up or remembered. That’s God, and that is what we are to work to do. That’s godliness. Being like God. It’s being like we want God to be toward us. It’s hard, and we can’t do it on our own, we have to let Him do it in us, and through us. But, we must be willing and we must take that first step, and He will come rushing in.

God is a God of infinite chances. He is a God of growth, a God of design and building. He doesn’t quit. God is not a quitter. He doesn’t say “Oh well, you messed up this time. I’m done with you. I didn’t see that coming. I came and died for you, but I never imagined you would do THAT! Are you kidding me? Pack your stuff and get out. Get out of my house.”

Nope, He washes you when you turn to Him. He doubles down His efforts, and works even harder to mold you. He is there. It is God’s goodness that brings men to repentance. No matter what, turn to Him, and do not run away. Talk to Him, and be real with Him. Tell Him, what’s up. He already knows, but He wants you to see it, and come to agreements with Him on it. By confessing it to Him, over and over and over again, it gets old. It starts to work out of you. It gets less and less, as He works. Trust Him.

Why Do We Study Prophecy?

So, we know the seasons. The Bible is 30% prophecy, as some have stated. But, when you consider that the whole thing is about Jesus Christ, and that all the stories and pictures speak of Him, His First Coming and Second Coming, I think its more like 100%. God has called all believers to be…

Faith And Works

God works to build the Kingdom through us. James 2:14-26 In this passage. The apostle James, speaks of works being an aspect of our faith. It ends with the famous phrase “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” In the verses James shows that God commanded…

Of Pearls and Swine

Spiritual Truth By Chris Bunton

“ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine. Lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”—Matt. 7:6

Like an oyster, in the deepest darkest depths of the sea, where you cannot breathe and have no control over life.

In the place where there are monsters dwelling in the chaos, lurking and seeking to devour.

It is in this place where God finds us and saves us.

It is in these difficult trials of life, where we learn.

It is here where we grow pearls of wisdom.

God has us here for His purpose. He finds us and saves us. He grows those pearls, and builds our faith in Him.

Like gritty sand in the oyster’s body, the trials of life come and you cannot remove them.

They grind and rub, and irritate as you learn to deal with it, and watch God work in your life.

You deal by accepting layer upon layer of God’s truth around the grit until it forms a pearl of great price.

You learn. You grow. You are thankful for what you have received in the deep dark times. As the Lord said, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. “

We, like the oyster are unclean, unsaved beings in a fallen world of darkness. God gives us his Gospel, and it irritates us. Like sand in the oysters body. When we accept it, we start to develop layers of faith, truth and love, and we see God working in our lives. Blessing us, helping us, building a relationship with us. What began as an irritation, has grown into a pearl of great price, and that Pearl is Christ.

However, our lives are full of swine. Beings who consume anything and everything. Beings who wallow in their own filth, never realizing what they do. They will not hear your pearls of wisdom. They will not listen to your stories of how God has saved you and worked in your life. They will ridicule you, and destroy your precious understanding. Like swine, they delight in destroying and rending anything of real value and beauty. They sling mud and filth on every precious thing. They snort their opinions to any who would hear them. Their belly is their god.

If you let them, they will destroy the dreams you have been given. They will crush the Word, placed in your heart. They will drag you down to where they are. Whether it’s a subtle comment they spout at you. Or something they were “Just Joking” about. Or perhaps that scientific rant they always spew. Do not let them drag you down.  The words they release into the air have power. Those words will settle into the deep places of your mind and do their work to derail you and destroy you. The negativity will start to grow. Satan will use it to silence you, and ruin you.

Speak against it!

Tell yourself good positive things.

Speak the promises of God.

Remind yourself of what’s important and what matters most.

Turn to God and cast out those demons.

Get away from those swine, and lessen the impact they have on you.

Pray for them and love them, but refuse to be dragged into their hate.

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

The enemy uses any tool, including the swine he has deceived, to steal, kill and destroy you.

Fight the fight of faith.

The Beasts Of The Field

Why does God let us struggle? When we get saved, we might notice that there are things that change in us immediately. But, there are other things that do not. It’s like God saves us and removes some things but leaves other things in our lives for us to struggle with. I mean if God…

What Is Wrong With Us?

We are corrupt at the very core. What I am going to present to you today is something different. A different way to look at the world, and humanity. Something different than the legalism around us. As Christians we are taught and have come to understand a view of God, Scripture and the World based…

Our Suffering In Christ

We are tempted to reject Him. When we get saved, we confess Jesus as our Lord, and believe in Him alone for salvation. We are called to Walk in the Spirit, and to abide in Him. We get great joy in the Lord. Prayers answered. Life changing experiences, and we see Him working to protect…

Expect Respect

Why Associate With People Who Do Not Respect You?

That’s the question.

Why should we associate or be involved with people who do not respect us?

Why be friends with, or go to a church or be part of a group or organization where you are treated as a second class citizen?

Seriously?

You were created for a purpose. That purpose was not to be treated like you’re nothing by people who claim to love you or like you.

Do they watch you struggling and do nothing to help? They don’t care about you obviously.

Do they claim to love you but do not support your ideas, dreams and business ventures?

Do they “like”, comment and share your stuff on social media? Do they support your work and business?

When you seek to be involved do they ignore you? Do they give you some petty task while supporting their best friends? Aren’t you supposed to be a friend?

All those jokes they pull on you and all the kidding they do to you is not really kidding..is it? Are you the butt of their jokes? What do they say when you are not around?

Do they invite you to do things? Do they make it easy for you to attend?

Think about it. When was the last time they invited you to the Bar b que? When was the last time they accepted one of your invites?

People claim “Respect should be earned”.

No everyone should get decency and respect. It’s not about what they have done or not done. It’s about who we are as human beings. We can treat people better. “Do unto others as we would want done to us.”

We see people commit suicide everyday. And when it happens we all feel shocked and say “If only they had reached out.”

They were reaching out every single day.

They were reaching out when they got out of bed, and you chose to treat them with disrespect and as a second class citizen. Why wait till people die before being a decent person to them?

Stop expecting decency from people who do not know how to show it.

Stop being friends with people who obviously are not your friend.

Stop attending a church that claims to love you, but really does nothing to show it. Do they support you? Do they rejoice with you? Do they help bear your burdens? Do they cause problems in your life?

Stop being involved with groups where you give more than they are willing to even attempt to give back.

People need to stop making life hard on each other.

You can start by not allowing it in your life and finding people who accept you and want you to live, and breathe and grow. People who really care. Or at least give it a shot.

You can find them. Pray about it.

The Darkest Time Of Year

It’s hard sometimes This time of year, around Christmas is a very hard time of year for many people. It is not a joyful festive time, no matter how much we try to dress it up with religious zeal, and bright lights. This is the time of year we often miss those who have gone…

The Coming Persecution

A Look at Matthew 24 “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive…

How Are We Tempted?

It’s important to understand. In order to resist temptation, we must understand what is going on. If we miss an aspect of it, we cannot really resist it. We just shift it around or suffer through. “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with…

Innocent Till Proven Guilty

Are We Really?

In my life experiences I have discovered that the concept of “Innocent till proven guilty in a court of law.” Only applies to “A Court of Law”.

Everywhere else you are considered guilty till you prove you are not.

Courts have rules and protections that are supposed to maintain the innocence of the alleged criminal till proven guilty. Granted, those protections do not always work the way they should.

The court of public opinion does not have any protections. This is why things are often tried in the media and social circles. It’s easier to destroy someone when you don’t really have to prove anything.

Innocent till proven guilty used to be a foundation of liberty and a common belief in America. But, it has fallen by the wayside. We seem to have become jaded.

As soon as a person is accused and posted online or on social media, we have them found guilty and hanged outside the Facebook courthouse.

This is a terrible thing in our culture, where a person can be canceled with no real proof, or consideration. This is similar to what allegedly happens in China, where they have worked to implement a “Social Credit System” whereby people are supposedly punished for not following political correctness, such as saying the wrong things or sending an email criticizing government. There’s some debate on whether it exists in China or not. But, the fact is that they are definitely building it in America, it seems.

The part that insults me personally, is the fact that we allow our leaders to create mountains of laws, regulations, licenses, registrations and fees, to correct the crimes that others commit, or to “Keep us Safe”

I am sick of being treated like a criminal or a moron because someone else doesn’t have common sense or any ability to control themselves.

And you can’t really argue against it because it’s often about “Safety”. You can get anything passed if it is for safety.

There’s an interesting Bible Prophecy that I think speaks of this.

“And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.”—Rev. 9:6

Imagine a world made so safe by every means possible that even when terrible things happen and people wish they could die, they are not able to. I’m not saying this is a fulfillment of the prophecy. But, consider it.

Does our man-made efforts to defeat death and evil, make life more worth living?

At what point does safety become a prison? A prison where we live to consume and make money for those in power. Never able to escape.

Another Bible Prophecy comes to mind.

“Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”—Matt. 24:12

Because there are so many people doing evil, any love we might have for others becomes less and less till it is just cold. If you can’t love people, then you definitely can’t consider them innocent till proven guilty.

Are you ready for where we are headed?

How Do I Turn To God?

The Social Value of Karen

Do you know a Karen?

Let’s face it.

As a society we need Karen.

Who else is going to take it upon themselves to enforce all the rules that no one else complains about?

And do it for free?

We need a super hero like Karen to make us see the importance of all those rules, that are not really laws. But, Karen thinks they should be.

Who is going to make sure that we don’t eat any grapes while shopping?

Who will say “Nobody wants to work anymore” when your food is late at the restaurant?

Who in the world will complain about women breastfeeding in public?

Karen. That’s who.

Who will yell at kids running in the store?

Who will tell you how to be a mother?

Who will tell you how to be a real man?

Karen. Because she knows all about manhood.

She had 10 kids without an epidural.

Karen.  She will make sure No one gets away with anything. Her phone and finger are ready to tattle.

Who would let you know that your pet is not as well behaved as her AKC registered Asian Cowhound.?

She knows a good groomer…

Who would make sure you are in the right lane at the store?

Who would suggest a landscaper for your unkempt property?

Who would tell you not to cross the street till the light changes, despite there being zero traffic.

Karen would.

Karen doesn’t want your kids in her yard. She said No!

Karen keeps us aware of all the petty rules around us and keeps us in line.

She makes sure no one cuts.

She makes sure you do your job and obey the rules at work. She mentions that you were late…every…single…time.

We all know a Karen or have known one.

Karen’s will always exist. They were the little girl at school who always tried to be in charge, and ran to tell the teacher.

They will exist even after a nuclear war. Roaches, rats, and Karens.

Overcoming Anxiety And Fear

It is a demon. Cast it out. Jesus said, “Fear Not” (Matt. 10:31) He said it many times.  Actually, it’s a theme throughout scripture. Fear at its most basic level, is a lack of trust in God and His promises. That is a harsh saying, especially when we are dealing with anxiety. Because, often times…

Tell Your Plans to No One

Success Advice From Chris Bunton

Don’t tell anyone your plans, hopes, and dreams. Put everyone on a need to know basis. Do not even tell your spouse, until required.

Do your research quietly. Make your moves without anyone knowing.

Why do I say this? Well, have you ever told someone something that you had high hopes for, and felt your heart sink as they proceeded to dump on your idea or plan? Have you had a person you loved and respected call your dream, a hobby? Have you tried to get something going, so you can escape the misery of your job or life, only to have someone say it’s impossible, or won’t work?

This sort of negativity can have devastating effects on your creativity and desire to succeed or do good things.

The person who says these things to you might mean well. But, you must realize that your subconscious does not differentiate between jokes, or well meaning criticism. It just registers it as fact. It registers the meaning, not the intent. That’s why you can curse yourself, if you say trash to yourself all day. Your brain doesn’t separate it from your desire. It just records the words, and takes them as fact.

Listen the average person is average because they all listen to the same negative, fear laden, play it safe ideas.

Just do it, and prove them wrong. Just move forward and brag about it after you succeed. Could you fail? Yes, but you certainly will fail, if you never try.

Now, I’m not saying that you don’t research or seek out good godly council. But, always get second and even third opinions. Always seek out real experts, or knowledgeable people, but also look at the mavericks. Sometimes experts all say the same things, and get stuck in what they consider to be laws of their trade. But, then comes an Einstein, or a Tesla, and turns the whole industry on its ear. Ask them questions to feel them out, but you still do not need to reveal everything, or take all advice.

Listen, just because you love someone does not mean they are an expert or even really wise. Stupid people grow old too, and smart people can be very negative. They might have alternative reasons for shooting down your ideas. They might not want you to succeed, because it will make them have to step up. Or it will cause you to leave them. Seriously, how many kids have failed because the mom did not want them to leave the nest?

Not only can negative people shoot you down directly, but they can crack jokes that bring you down. This is a very subtle sabotage. They will talk to other people and the other person will bring you down. Like a step parent, or an in-law. They might not say a word, but their demeanor plainly shows how they feel about what’s going on. You might not be told what they think, but your minds ability to read body language will register the negativity, even without the words. Even another person’s thoughts and prayers about you and your plans can have a negative effect on what you are trying to do. And you will not know why.

Some people do not need to be in the loop. Now a spouse is a partner and needs to be included, but do not let them crush you for no reason, or just out of fear. You know your spouse. You know how they will be. Help them feel comfortable. Listen to them and alleviate their concerns without letting them crush your dreams.

Trust me. Tell no one of your plans or ideas until they need to know or until it’s too late to stop it. This simple thing has brought me tons of peace and allowed me to succeed or fail based upon my own efforts. There are few things worse than public failure, and scorn. Even if people love you and support you, there can be feelings of ridicule or shame. If you don’t tell anyone what you are doing, then you can fail as many times as you need, until you get success, and there will be no embarrassment.

Tell no one. Just do it.

Are You Really Following Jesus?

Make sure. What does it mean to follow the real Jesus? Well, let’s look and see. Jesus’s ministry was a ministry of healing. This should tell us something about what we believe in regards to the Gospel and how we are to serve God. Because we want to be like Him. That is real godliness.…

I Am Legion

You are never too far gone. In the books of Luke, Mark, and Matthew we see the story of the Gadarene Demoniac. (Mark 5:1-20, Luke 8:26-39, Matt. 8:28-34) He had an unclean spirit, which called itself “Legion” because there were many of the demons inhabiting this man. He lived in the tombs, crying out and…

My Poems

Rebel Poetry by Chris Bunton

I don’t follow the rules.
I don’t believe that the rule makers are better than me.
I don’t accept their authority to own me.

So, I write poetry.
Because I can make my own rules.
If you don’t like it.
Don’t read it.

I hate the grammar nazis;
who correct my mistakes,
And make themselves feel great.

I write my poems.
So people can understand.
I don’t want to hide my words
Or give mystic meanings.

I want to drive you to action.
I want to get you to see.
I want you to remember.
And fly away free.

What’s the point of writing?
If no one can read?
It’s like a single beer,
In a house full of drunks.

My poems are for me.
Because I know
That someone will agree.
If I speak the truth loudly.

I write poems,
Because it flows.

It just simply goes
And I can’t seem to quit.

It’s where I’m free to fly,
And make the laws
That you must obey
Momentarily.

Overcoming The Saints

The saints will be overcome. The scriptures are clear that the Anti-Christ will make war with the saints and overcome them. (Dan. 7:25, Rev. 13:7) I want to point out how this is likely to occur and how it is already started. I am not giving a prophecy here. I’m just pointing out some things.…

The Christian And Violence

What is the truth? I want to start with the ultimate truth, then talk about the current times, and prophecy. If you want to know God’s will on any subject you can probably find it in the Garden at Creation. There was no evil or death present. Nothing killed anything else. The humans and animals…

Fear Not

God is with us “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” –Luke 12:32 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”— 2 Tim. 1:7 “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is…

But Without Faith…

Spiritual Truth By Chris Bunton

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”—Heb. 11:6

God has given each one of us a measure of faith so that we are able to believe in Him and believe His promises. That is why we are without excuse. We have the ability but we refuse, or become distracted or deceived by Satan.

God loves us and comes to each of us, asking to have a relationship with us. Trying to save us and give us a hope and get us out of bondage to the enemy.

When we turn to Him He delights in saving us and working in our lives. He rewards us in many ways for putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and believing the promises that God has given us in His Word.

When we turn to Him, and acknowledge Him in all our ways He will direct our paths.

Just pray about everything. And you will find Him moving before you and showing where to go before you even get there. Your relationship will be such that you will see his pillar of fire and smoke, going before. You will hear His still small voice guiding your life.

He is real. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. When you put your faith and trust in Him you will see His presence. When we see His presence, our faith in Him grows.

Are you really trusting Him?

When He says “Whatsoever you ask in my name I will do it?” Do you believe?

When He says “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed…” do you believe?

Or do you create excuses for why it might not be true?

Stop caring about outcomes, and start delighting in seeing Him work.

He is able. He is able to save, He is able to release you. He is able to heal. He is able to solve the problem.

He is able. Say it.

He is willing because He loves you. Say it.

He is going to do it, one way or another. Say it and trust it. Say it over and over

He is there. He hears. He loves and He is moving. He delights in seeing your faith grow.

Your relationship with Him is all that matters.

Abide in Him and Trust.

What Is Death?

It’s important to know. Death on its most basic level means separation. It is not an end, as some suppose. The Bible teaches that we are triune, like God. We are made in His image. We have a body, a soul and a spirit. When God created everything He created it good. Evil was contained…

Matthew 25 Church

Are we prepared for His return? Matthew Chapter 25 is a chapter in the New Testament that describes what will happen when Christ returns. It states that He will separate the sheep from the goats. It appears that this judgment is not the Great White Throne judgment, where the lost are judged. This judgment is…

Let Us Be Content

Always more. More, More, More.  “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”— Heb.…

Real Hope

Spiritual Truth by Chris Bunton

There was an experiment conducted in the 1950’s using rats. Read more HERE.

It was a cruel experiment but it gives some important insights.

The experimenter, took domestic rats and put them in glass jars filled with water.

A few rats immediately gave up and committed suicide, basically.

But, the rest of the rats swam for days trying to survive.

Next, the experimenter used wild rats.

They all gave up and died in a short time.

The experiment continued. But, let’s stop here for a moment, and ask ourselves.

What’s the difference between,  the few domesticated rats who committed suicide and the ones who did not?

Then, let’s ask ourselves what’s the difference between the domesticated and the wild?

Remember, there’s more to the experiment. But, at this point we can see a difference.

This is my interpretation.

The difference is human contact.

The domesticated rats had been raised by humans. Fed, watered, cages cleaned, they probably heard the humans talking to them, or to other humans. They had developed a trust of the humans.

The wild rats feared humans, they had no good experiences with humans at all.

The few rats that committed suicide, had never fully trusted their human masters.

That’s the difference. Human contact.

Now, the original experimenter, we are told, saw that hope was the reason for what he observed. The domesticated rats who lived longer had hope that the human would come, like they always had.

They had hope, and trusted the humans.

In the next phase of the experiment. The experimenter tested both wild and domesticated rats.

He put them in jars of water and let them swim until the point where they finally gave up. Then, he saved them and let them rest before putting them back into the jars.

After this salvation, both wild and domesticated rats, swam even longer than before.

The experimenter determined that the rats had hope that help would come. So, they could endure longer.

Ok, so that’s the basic lesson we can glean from this experiment.  Hope has the power to help people to endure the struggles of this world.

We can build hope in ourselves and we can give hope to other people. This hope can save the day.

But, let’s go further.

Let’s go into the spiritual. Which might not have been the intent of the experiment. But, it’s my belief that everything exists to point us to God, and teach us of Him. It all works, to draw us to Him, or away.

What do animals think of humans? I know they fear us. But, do they think we are really smart animals? Or do we become “gods” to them?

I put “gods” in lower case and quotes, because I have no doubt that animals and small children know who the real God is.

But, do they see us as some kind of ministering angel perhaps? Or a fallen demonic angel?

I do not know. But, if we look at this experiment in terms of our own walk with God, can we see parallels? Similarities?

When we choose to believe God is working in our life, does it give us more hope? Does it give us more faith, when we trust Him?

Is hope and faith the same?

Faith-filled hope is not the same as “gee I hope so.”

Hope with faith says “God is my only Hope, and I have faith He is coming.”

That is not “hope so.”

The rats trusted and had hope. When they were saved the first time, it gave them even more hope and faith because they had proof. They trusted that the human would come, and he did. Then, they knew he would come again, and had faith to endure.

Do you see the similarities?

God is good. He loves us and takes care of us. He saves us and will come again.

The things God has done for us in the past is proof for our hope and faith that He will take care of us, and be there for us in the future. Think of the great things God has done for you. It will help us to endure.

Trust Him.

As If By Fire

Test The Spirits

You can know for sure. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that…
